WHAT IS AN
HBCU (n.): "Any historically black college or university that was established prior to 1964, whose principal mission was, and is, the education of black Americans, and is accredited or making reasonable progress toward accreditation.”
-The Higher Education Act of 1965 (As Amended)
Club 1964, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) Public Charitable that advocates for Historically Black Colleges and Universities through academic, social, and professional ventures the recruit scholars, develop leaders, and educate advocates.
We carry out our mission by mobilizing our network of members and friends to mirror our national efforts in their local communities. Our members register through an application that assesses their dedication to our mission, the students who need us, and the HBCUs we serve. We currently have a membership body of HBCU students, alumni, faculty, staff, and supporters in twenty states. Our friends (donors, partners, and volunteers) span the globe.
Our organization is recognized for our signature service of exposing middle and high school students to HBCUs via our HBCU Presentations. We customize our presentations to fit the audience we've been invited to speak to. All students take a pre-assessment and post-assessment. Each presentation we've made has broadened students' limited knowledge of HBCUs. In addition to our signature services, we are constantly seeking innovative ways to execute our mission, engage our network, and expand our impact.
Members of Club 1964, Inc. are, in essence, HBCU World Trailblazers who have dedicated their lives to preserving our institutions by providing access to students who need them the most. Our Members recruit students from their local communities and promote the good news of HBCUs throughout the entire nation.
